MISSION STATEMENT:
- Scott High School will maintain an
environment resulting in the acquisition of 21st Century
Learning Skills and high levels of academic achievement for
ALL students.
Scott High Strategic Plan 2011-2012:
Goal 1: KNOW
All students will show improvement in meeting or exceeding state
and national curriculum standards while acquiring 21st Century
Skills through engaging opportunities in the core subjects of
reading, English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social
studies, as well as the arts, world language, health and
physical education, and technical education.
Objectives:
The percentage of students meeting curriculum standards in
reading, ELA, math, science, and Social Studies, will increase
annually.
The percentage of Low SES and Students with Disabilities
meeting curriculum standards will increase annually.
The percentage of students meeting curriculum standards in the
arts, world language, health and physical education, and
technical education will increase annually.
Goal 2: BEHAVE
All students will develop the personal skills of wellness,
responsibility, cultural awareness, self-direction, and good
citizenship in an environment that is caring and safe.
Objectives:
Scott High Schools attendance rate will improve annually, to
reach 90% or higher.
All students will participate in health, wellness, and PE
regularly.
Scott High School will implement a student positive behavior
program.
Goal 3: ACCOMPLISH
All students will graduate from high school prepared for
post-secondary education and/or to enter the workforce through
career pathways and guidance that focus students on productive
and satisfying lives.
Objectives:
All students will be provided career guidance and personalized
support.
All students will be provided a variety of support services to
address student physical, social/emotional, and academic growth
to increase the graduation rate on an annual basis.
Goal 4: TECHNOLOGY
Scott High School will increase the use of technology by
students, parents, and teachers to increase student learning.
Objectives:
TECH/01: Provide 21st century hardware and a stable, state of
the art 21st century infrastructure for the effective use of
technology.
TECH/02: Focus on 21st century technology tools and resources
that improve achievement of all students, with a special
emphasis on high need and low SES students.
TECH/03: Ensure that the use of telecommunications and
internal connections in the schools will enhance learning.
TECH/04: Provide increased access for students and teachers to
21st century tools and resources.
TECH/05: Utilize innovative strategies for providing rigorous
and specialized courses that may not be available without the
use of 21st century tools and resources.
TECH/06: Promote parental involvement and improved
collaboration with community/home through the use of 21st
century tools and resources.
TECH/07. Provide professional development for using the
telecommunications network for training teachers and
administrators to improve the integration of 21st century tools
and resources.
TECH/08: Maintain and repair all 21st century tools and
internal connections.
TECH/09: Provide services, in collaboration with WVDE adult
literacy programs, to maximize the use of technology.
CORE BELIEFS:
- Collaboration with parents and community
will provide greater educational opportunities for school
improvement.
- Each student is a valued individual with
unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
- A positive, safe, and nurturing
environment is required for ALL students to achieve mastery.
- Instructional focus, data disaggregation,
and assessment are essential components for measuring
student achievement.
- Commitment by all stakeholders to
continuous improvement will result in improved teaching and
learning for ALL.
- Strong instructional leadership and
highly qualified personnel are necessary to insure a climate
of high expectations for ALL.
- Given adequate time and opportunity, ALL
students will achieve mastery of the fundamental curriculum.
